Mission2:Culture/Reflection

Personal Data Tracking

"REFLECTION"

As we finished our teamwork, I learned more about how to protect against online trackers who are everywhere and easily able to access and manage people's privacy․

I didn't know that by collecting people's personal data, they were selling to companies․ This mission helped me discover several facts ։ As a parent, I am using the Family link app and tracking my kid's online behaviour and I know its legal. I can control the amount of time my kids are spending online, using this app I can see their location and I can block any unknown apps that they are trying to download. It is very important.

The next more important and meanwhile very hard thing is how to control the teenager's online behaviour. I did some researches and I found out this app which called SPYSIE.

It's a good app, you can see what your children are doing online, what websites they are interested in and with whom they are talking. Again, you are tracking their online behaviour.

I know many teenagers are fun of online fighting games, and online trackers are knowing it. I never heard about Discord app, which can track what the teenagers are doing during the games, are they chatting with teenagers or the adults? what type of conversation they are having and, if it is safe or not.

Continuing my researches, I got some apps that can control your healthy lifestyle: fitness app, healthy diet app, sleeping & mediation app but never heard about quit smoking app, which helps you not only to quit smoking but also helping you to save money.

I asked my friend to put his weekly routine in the data visualization chart. As he was trying to quit smoking, he did it. Looking at the chart you can see that he was smoking 1 cigarette per day when he is doing fitness. Which is progress, right?

Continuing to talk about online trackers, I met some disadvantages as well. Medical records: when we are going to the hospital and signing the form about the privacy policy, we are thinking that all the information is confidential.

But not for online trackers. They can get all your medical information and send it to the third party. It's Illegal!

The same for the Bank details. Rich people are keeping their money on Offshore banks, Cypress for example.

Social media: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, WhatsApp, online trackers can see all your online behaviour,  famous people, politicians, celebrities are not always happy to share their private life with all.

Mission3:Methodology/Reflection

Digital Journalism "Reflection" When we started this mission I thought we are going to make our own video using our theme.   Then, our lecturer Mr.Shaun explained how we must organize our work.   For me, it should be Clear, Concise and Consistent.  Our group worked very hard, but the hardest work did Rosie, to be honest. As the project should be looked at as one product, and everything should look coherent, Rosie helped us to put it all together. She is the best team member I have ever met. We used the following tools to create our product Adobe Premiere Pro, StoryMap, audio, and music part as well. As we are talking about Digital Journalism, we should also mention the main principals of it: Print, Radio, and TV included Interactive Journalism.  In our product, we also talked about how people are celebrating Christmas around the world, and what special traditions they have on that day. Now, looking at the ba...

Mission 3:Methodology/Process

Digital Journalism "Process" Our third mission is Methodology. What does it mean " Methodology"?  No idea!   When I started my third mission I read about methodology and chose Image Visualization with my friend Julia, and we started to do our researches, to understand what it is, and how we can do it. I've already decided to do film visualization, like a video essay, and Julia was trying to do Image visualization: barcode, and so on.  Then, something unexpected happened. I and Julia cannot do this mission together, as we’re worked together on the first mission group.  WHAT?   Yes, we must start again...   S o, I looked around in our lab and noticed that Rosie and Niamh having nice chat and discussion. I came to them and asked: "Girls are you looking for number three in your mission group? They said "Yes".Great, I will be that number three.  O ur mission is Digital Journalism.
